Some updates

Hello blogosphere! I’m bored so I took an online quiz called What City Do You Belong In?

Guess what? It says “You belong in Paris.”

I swear I didn’t cheat. Hehe. I was even thinking that the result will say that I belong to NYC.

Stylish and expressive, you were meant for Paris.
The art, the fashion, the wine!
Whether you’re enjoying the cafe life or a beautiful park…
You’ll love living in the most chic place on earth.

Anyway, I have tons of things to do but the tasks are too plenty I don’t know where to start or how to begin. For now, I am enjoying the internet connection. It’s kinda fast today :)

On other news:

  1. I have already paid my web hosting plan in full. My blogs are my life story so I just can’t throw them away just like that especially the senior ones. You know, the ones that have been running since 3 years ago.
  2. I miss my blogger friends. They are not updating their blogs that much these past few weeks. That’s why I am also discouraged from writing new blog posts. But I plan to update Love is Paris more often. Hopefully, Ezine style of writing.
  3. My pamangkins are growing up fast! They are becoming more and more talkative as days pass by. And would you believe that they refuse to call their other aunt (from their father’s side) “tita” because for them I am the ONLY tita they know? It’s so true. It makes us laugh. My two-year old nephew insists on calling her “lola” instead of tita. It’s so funny.

That’s all for now. Happy blogging!

Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup

Which is more important – food or home?

You can’t answer “both.”

You have to choose between the two.

That’s a tough question, huh?

My brother asked that to me a few months ago and without thinking much, I chose “home.” I feel that life would be very very sad if I had no place to call home. For me, home means family and house has a different meaning. I know I would die of starvation without food but I experienced the first difficult months of living “away” from my family and I couldn’t eat. No matter how delicious and salivating the dishes were, I couldn’t convince myself to taste them.

Anyway,  I read the story of Bert Anthony Sienes, player of Team Philippines for the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup. The story is heart-warming and very inspiring specially when I read that Bert’s mother never gave up on searching for his son. After 10 years of separation, Bert was reunited with his family through football. He is currently in Paris to make not just his family but the entire Philippines proud. You can read the whole story in this link - A decade lost, a lifetime gained.

Take action by giving donations or by becoming a volunteer.

A ball can change the world. The question is, are you in? Check out the official website of Homeless World Cup and choose among the simple things that you can do to help beat homelessness.

Summer kisses

It’s been raining hard these past few days and all the while, all I can think of is summer. Not that I hate rainy days. It’s just that when it’s raining, it seems that more people are grumpy :) But it’s really amazing how a lot of women still manage to look awesome even if the sun is unfriendly. I have this former schoolmate in college. She’s like a star. She’s got hundreds of friends and thousands of pictures in Facebook. In her latest FB profile picture, she is wearing a white cashmere sweater, black leggings and a pair of black boots. So chick.

Speaking of boots, I have never owned a pair ever. I’ve never considered owning one because guess what? There is no fall season here in Manila. Haha. My reason is shallow. Of course, anyone can wear boots anywhere and anytime. I just have this impression that boots do not spell comfort specially in a tropical country. I prefer flats and slippers because these are wearable even if it’s rainy or sunshiny. I think boots are only fab when worn by other girls but not me. Besides, I have beautiful small feet and friends like to see me wearing heels :D They think it’s sexy.

You know what I don’t like about rainy season? It’s the time of the year when all I want to do is eat and sleep. I’m happy to know that I’ve already earned $1k in Odesk (according to Ms. Vienna) and that should inspire me to work harder. I really really want to do all the tasks assigned to me but for some reason, I’m struggling. I love writing. But I just couldn’t write these past few weeks. The bosses are already complaining for the missed deadlines and I want to save my face. I want to perform better but somehow I couldn’t find the inspiration to write like mad again.

Maybe I should bribe myself. Can you believe that? I have to give my lazy self a bribe just to finish my tasks and duties! So, tomorrow I am going to buy a pair of Havaianas. My mother said it’s not worth the money and I’m also not completely sure if I would like to spend a fortune for a pair of ordinary-looking slippers. Friends said it’s worth it because the rubber is kinda special, something that will not wear out easily. Then my best friend, M, told me it’s not a good value for my money. There are lots of cheaper and prettier footwear in the public market. I don’t know. I’ll let you know once I’ve decided. But for now, I gotta stop wishing for summer and start writing.

No holds barred

If I were to blog about my job and anyone at work ever read it, I’m dead. I’m not saying that somebody’s actually reading my posts, as a matter of fact, I feel that nobody’s in here. I have visitors but they’re just visitors, not readers. You see, there is a huge difference between the two. A visitor is just someone who accidentally saw my blog or a blogger who wants to exchange links. A reader, well, is a person who reads the things I wrote and has an opinion if it’s cool or crap. But who cares? I’m gonna write anything that pleases me and everything my crazy mind can think of. On top of which, the whole idea of writing a blog is to get away from what I do everyday so why would I blog about my job?

Love is Paris | Paris Stolen Photograph

Why am I talking about this? I just had a job interview last week and I stupidly gave them the URL of my main blog. Which means I’ve just given them full access to my deepest thoughts and craziness. Stupid girl. Nobody’s supposed to know about that online journal except for my 3 closest friends. But I was caught off guard. I was asked about the thing I love most and I answered blogging. I should have answered sleeping or reading or eating, whatever. But blogging … oh well, let’s skip the entire details … the next thing I know was that I was just answering all the questions honestly and frankly.

I don’t know if I will bag the job. I felt that the employer liked me but I read in a magazine that giving too much information about yourself during job interviews has a “turn-off” factor. So, I think it’s a big NO in all caps, bold italic and they might even highlighted it in my resume in bloody red. HAHA! But who cares? I can re-apply after three months. JOKE! I don’t want to do that! It’s so degrading. If they don’t like me, then they don’t. Right now, I just can’t believe I was able to discuss my blog with an “employer.” I’m laughing at myself because it’s crazy. Is it crazy? Yeah, it is.

In times like this, I’d like take a long walk along the Parisian streets to think and eat vanilla ice cream.

Paris’s stolen pictures

How do you define plagiarism? And how do you define the word “stealing?” Well, I’m asking because I got copies of Paris’s pictures which, I bet, have never been published anywhere. I am very excited to post them here in my blog. But the thing about these photos is that they’re not mine. They belong to someone who is not even a close friend. She’s just a person I met in a social networking site and boy she has tons of photos of my beloved city! Perhaps, she also got them from the net? Even so, I am very much tempted to post some of those nice pictures in Love is Paris without giving proper credits to the rightful owner :( What is happening to me? I guess this is becoming an obsession. But I’ve seen other bloggers doing this too. You know, posting photographs from Google or Yahoo. Yeah, they always mention the sites where they got the materials ie., videos, pics, etc. They don’t necessarily link back to the site, just like what I’ve done in my previous post, but at least they have the conscience to have the source mentioned in the caption. But, I’m different. I don’t want to link or to even mention my resources. As a matter of fact, I even want to claim full copyright to these photos. My gosh. I think this is a crime. Not only to the person who took these beautiful shots but also to my parents who didn’t raise me to grow up and be a plagiarist or a thieve. But I’m doing this anyway. If I get caught, I guess … well, I’ll delete the photos and then write a letter of apology to my complainant. Hopefully, that would suffice. Hopefully, she will not sue me because that’ll mean paying for an attorney and going through all the hassles of court trials. Yes. I’m doing this. Without proper credits, here is the first picture.
